Dear John McCann died suddenly in Coleraine recently. He was buried as a Catholic by his family but a number of the friends were able to attend the funeral. In spite of severe mental illness John loved God and was faithful to the Faith right to the end. He will never be forgotten in the Bahá'í History of Coleraine. Pray for his progress in the next world. |

Dear Friends,
I was overjoyed to receive information about my birth country. I have been reading it all and look forward to further issues. Back in the '70's, I was in Belfast with my dear Mother and when she made a short trip to Scotland, I asked to meet the Bahá'ís in N. Ireland. It was at the height of your problems there and I was very anxious to meet people I had not seen since 1948,when I left my beloved homeland.I cannot remember the names of the Bahá'ís I met because all of their names were in my Prayer Book which I gave to my son in Lethbridge, Alberta.do remember that one of the Bahá'ís was blind. I still have those pictures which I must dig out of a packed box.Our NSA wrote to me after I had returned and sent in a report of my teaching efforts and said:We were praying more for your safety than your teaching efforts. At that time Doug Martin was on our NSA. You are in for such a treat to have this man come to you and speak. When I first became a Bahá'í in 1963, Doug gave a fireside in my home in Burlington, Ontario. What a bounty. I do remember that there was another couple who had returned from Africa and they and myself were supposed to be interviewed on the radio but it was cancelled a few days before. I am now living in the Maratimes in a place called Miramichi, New Brunswick. It is called the Irish Capital of Canada. Please give my love and prayers to my fellow Irish Baha'is.
In His service,
