For the second time this year members of the Baháí Council met with the representative of the Continental Board of Counsellors Mr. Shahriar Razavi together with members of the Training Institute Board for Northern Ireland, our two Auxiliary Board Members and a representative of the National Assembly Dr John Parris. This took place in Belfast on Sunday 2nd December.
Prior to the meeting the Council elected its officers for the coming year and they are as follows:
Chairman: Patricia Jamshidi.
Vice-Chairman: Colin Rogers.
Secretary: Edwin Graham.
Treasurer: Pat Craig.
The Counsellor said he was very happy with the progress that had been made in Northern Ireland and, indeed, it appeared that we were ahead of the game. We had now finished out clustering process and all twelve clusters that contain Baháís have had their initial meetings. Shariar was delighted to see how closely the various institutions had worked together and that we were all going in the same direction.
A letter was studied dated 26th November 2001 which had come from the International Teaching Centre summarising the experiences of the clustering process throughout the world.
The National Assembly member explained why the National Inter-Agency meeting to be held in Leicester in early January had to be cancelled. The financial crisis could not allow for the expenses incurred by this large national gathering. This current financial crisis has not been so deep for many years.
It was expressed that we should try and find ways to share ideas with other parts of the United Kingdom even if we cannot go to England.
The Council continues to pray for the community and the development of each and every local Assembly and group. Please let us know if we can assist in any way.
Deepest love from:
THE BAHÁÍ COUNCIL FOR NORTHERN IRELAND
