9/12/03 Pictures from the kingdom

You may have noticed the small splashes of html paint I've been throwing around here. It ain't much, but the old place needed some freshenin'. The big updates are on the sillyness page, which now takes you on a mini tour of our recent gig at delightful Dunfermline's captivating Carnegie Hall. Featuring stupid costumes and rockin' in equal measure, as well as all new silly e-mail addresses? Tom Paulin thinks it's 'quite simply transcendent'. Indeed.

23/9/03 New MP3s

Three new live MP3s were recorded at the Local on September 3rd by Kieth Dickinson and Turtlesound. Thunk, Wisconsin and Nic's a Dic are all but a click away.

The boy's did a great job of making the recordings sound nice and polished, especially Thunk and Nic, so big fat kudos to them. Thanks also to Kev Morrison for hosting the tracks on LiviMS.

20/08/03 Dirtrock is real

Dirtrock is a collaboration between us and seven other bands that gig in and around Edinburgh, the aim being to mutually promote and help one another in order to get Edinburgh rockin'.

Part of the plan is to get our music into your ears. Accordingly, a compilation of Dirtrock music is available now, for free, from Fopp, Avalanche and HMV. Just walk in, pick up the record and enjoy.

Future Dirtrock gigs and events are in the pipeline - keep a close eye here and on our gigs.

27/5/03 Radge Music ... ya prick.

Radge Music, Cowala's brand new three track EP is now web exclusive - a round-about way of saying we can't be bothered putting it onto CD.

The Radge songs are now available to download on the Radge Music page that is part of the cowala.co.uk revamp that you're looking at right now.

Please enjoy.

25/3/03 Teletext reviews Cowala - a dog barks

Planet Sound, Channel Four's Teletext music pages, today reviews Cowala's album A Big Boy Did It and Ran Away. We recieve three and a half out of five and a good, if slightly indifferent, write-up.

John Earls says:
'[Cowala have a] pleasing simple style... infused with the spirit of very early Ash with a dash of China Drum's chaos... Zesty, unpretentious fun.'

We approached Bruce Wallace for a reaction:
'Mrwr... Tele-whit? I used tae love Magnum Pee Eye... fuggin... FUGGIN... GIES BACK MAH METHS... fuggin... ...you're mah besht mate.... Shellick.'

15/3/03 Large, friendly letters

The first Panic show went down on Thursday. Despite some teething troubles the gig was a success and looks set to become a great night out in the very near future. Big ups to Steve, Ben, Rosie and the rest of the crew. Panic have some extremely interesting and entertaing line-ups planned for future shows, so go to the site, go to the shows and generally support something that is an official Good Thing.

7/3/03 E-mail contest

We like to receive e-mail, but we really like to recieve entertainingly stupid e-mail. See the results here.

Quickly now!

23/2/03 Stars in Their Eyes @ Harburn Hall

Last night's gig was groin-grabbingly good, with all concerned putting on a great show and raising nearly £200 for orphaned children in Minsk. Run-away demi-gods of the night (in my opinion) were Davie, Steve, Kev and Dougal in hilarious Spinal Tap mode - and The Joshua Four as Led Zepplin. Big ups to the organisers and everyone who played. Especially Mandy, who played a mean banjo part on guitar for Instant Street. She puts us all in the shade.
