Although I have totally lost contact with Samanda Flint I seem to recall that there's an interesting story concerning the unusual name. (I'm sure I'll be corrected if this story is wrong!) As I recall she quite strenuously used to say that it definitely wasn't 'Samantha', as one would usually think. She had been christened Sally-Amanda, but since she thought that was a little unwieldy for everyday usage a new name was devised that was a contraction of the two. So, the prize for the most original name of anybody I was at school with goes to Samanda Flint.
