In case you experience any difficulties with the above image map, (or alternatively you may be viewing this site with a text-only browser in any case), please find below a list of plain text links to other pages on this site:
This is a site in slow, painstaking preparation. Full building backgrounds will appear on the site as and when time is available for the necessary research, (I have been rather too occupied with trying to save one of the "stops" on the Tour!). The site is copyright (2000-6) of Christopher Bentley, former Internet Affairs Representative of the Bus Station Action Group and founder of The Charles Herbert Aslin Society.
A new additional feature of the site, to mark a decade or so since the campaign to save Charles Aslin's Bus Station got under way, is what is known as the "Derby Art Deco Audit". This is an assessment of the threat, or lack thereof, to Derby's Art Deco and Moderne built environment. Each "stop" will have its own "threat level".
If you've enjoyed this little look at Art Deco, East Midland Style, or would like to suggest improvements, please E-Mail me and I should be only too glad to get back in touch with you or adjust the site accordingly.

It has come to my attention that the VDDT is now linked from the
following site, so please find this now linked from the VDDT:
Michael Purdeu's Finest Art Deco Boxes.
An excellent link I found there, (and very similar to this site),
was a look at:
Art Deco Building in Melbourne, Australia,
whose name has its origins, (via Lord Melbourne), in Melbourne, Derbyshire,
from where my ancestors come, (up here in Belper, our branch of the family is very much a northern outpost).
If you want to take a look at more Art Deco in Australia please also visit the aforementioned site, whose host has recently been in touch with the VDDT.
Another recent message to the VDDT has brought my attention to a
site dedicated to photographs of buildings in Derby, together with
historical backgrounds:
Andy Savage's Derby Photographs Site
Andy Savage's Cockpitt Car-Park views Page
