BenefitsThere are many benefits of joining The Referees Association. The benefits of joining are:
Insurance:
Probably the most important benefit of joing The Referees Association is the insurance plan. Every season, when you renew your membership you will automatically 'top-up' your RA Insurance.
Advice:
In The Referees Association there are many experienced officials. There are ex Football League officials, Contributory League officials and even FIFA officials like Glenn Turner who was assistant referee in the FA Cup Final and Worthington Cup Final in 2002. These people can offer advice and help to any official who wants to progress.
Training:
One of the great advnatages of joing The Referees Association is the training that we provide for officials to help them progress. The Referees Association regularly organises in-service training for officials. These may be held in close season at the weekends or in the evenings.
Fitness Training:
To be a good official one needs to be fit. Fitness Training can be organised on a one-to-one basis or as a group with our Fitness Co-ordinator Paul Thompson.
Online Help:
This web site has been set up to help officials and society members. Society information and news is posted on this site on a regualr basis so you can keep up to date with all the latest news from meetings. You can also subscribe to the Referees Association e-list whihc is a monthly email sent to officials.
Social Aspect:
At meetings you can meet new friends and get to know other referees who can help you improve and offer advice.
FootballReferee:
This is the official publication of the Referees Association. The magazine is released bi-monthly and contains training articles and news from the Referees Association. You can also subscribe to the Referees Association e-list whihc is a monthly email sent to officials.
Supplies:
At meetings you will be able to purchase supplies and kit. The advantage that purchasing supplies at meetings has is that you dont have to pay any postage (obviously!) and you dont have to wait for it to be delivered. Alternatively you can get in touch with the supplies officer if you need some supplies urgently by emailing him here.
Appointments:
Attending meetings is a great way to get appointments at charity matches played at big grounds like Hillsborough or Bramall Lane. Many of our members are also involved in local junior sides that organise tournaments each year which require referees.
County Quiz: Every year the association enters a side at the county quiz night. This is an event where other local Referees Associations play each other in a knock-out football tournament and then take part in a quiz based on the laws of the game.
Cup Final Tickets:
Each year The Derbyshire County Football Association Limited is provided with a number of FA Cup Final tickets which are available for members to purchase. Obtaining FA Cup Final tickets is not easy but by attending 50% of our meetings you can buy a pair.
Prize Draw:
At the end of each football season the National Referees Association distributes tickets to each branch/society to sell. Entering the prize draw could win you a brand new car or £250.
