They say...
Officially not too much but we did mind to find the following:

Alive, the new single from American rock quartet P.O.D., could well be that one thing we need to wake us all up...and it's finally coming to the UK! Their latest album, Satellite will touch down in UK stores on 7 January '02 and the new single Alive will hit stores on 14 January '02. So what are you waiting for?! Go out and get both. This could be a way to show your mates God in something that rocks!

We say...
These aren't the kind of guys you'd expect to see in your country church clapping along with shine Jesus shine, and thank goodness, cause Payable On Death's new album Satellite is fresh loud and topping sales charts all over the place.

With musical influences including Linkin' Park, Korn and Limp Bizkit, the four guys with tats and boy rocker looks - Sonny, Wuv, Marcos and Traa are accompanied by H.R., Eek-A-Mouse, and Christian Lindskeg (of Blindside) to bring a truly out of space offering.

Let's take the album apart as we look at it track by track

'Set it off' is a song which looks says, hold your head up high and stand up for yourselves we're coming to set it off! Nice and loud and a superb thumping bass line.

'Alive' will be the first single released from the Satellite album on the 14th January 2002 in the UK. It talks about feeling God for the first time and how it makes you feel alive. A great song and a great video which has been getting good coverage from MTV Select and Radio 1.

'Boom' is one of my favourite tracks on this album, and I think my neighbours are starting to get an idea of what it sounds like. This song announces that coming of POD, they've put the work in, they've been around and boom! here come the boys from the south.

'Youth of the Nation' is Ally (our music editors) favourite track, and for P.O.D. scales it is quite a layed back song - but it does have a serious message - that the youth of the nation are hurting and they want to make sense of what is happening and they are looking for something or someone.

'Celestial' is the first of the intermission tracks. A chilled spacey feel piece of music probably to prepare the listener for what's to come!

'Satellite' is the title track and a 'wail n rock' song with a hard chocolate centre talking about how God looks over us all the time (quite shockingly like a Satellite). Nice vocals shine through especially at the end of the track. Mosh in your bedroom!

'Ridiculous' talks about the ridiculousness a lot of other 'heavy' artists, the fact that they poison the mental concept and how they just talk loud but really say nothing. It loud as well.

'The Messenjah' is my favourite track on the album, loud and proud it blasts the brains and tugs on the heart strings asking you to make a pledge that your going to be a Messenjah for God even if you die tonight. Superb musically and lyrically.

'Guitarras de Amor' is the second intermission of the album and again is a bit more chilled!

'Anything right' is a group of people screaming I CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT with a quieter slightly reflective (but in essence still loud) verses. it get's very energetic towards the end and their's some out of breath guys around.

'Ghetto' is about the world being a ghetto and believing not only in someone but in love, the main line being 'I believe that this world believes in love'.

'Masterpiece Conspiracy' looks at the way people conspire against us in this world. It has a good rhythm and a simple chorus that we can all join in with "It's a masterpiece conspiracy"!

'Without Jah, Nothin' is the third and final intermission of the album and is a collage of aggressive shouts and madly played guitars going to a reggae feel section!"

'Thinking about forever' is song from a son singing to his mother who is no longer here and how they are thinking about forever missing her. A very chilled song and very touching.

The final song is loud and mad! 'Portrait' is fast paced and looks at the portrait that Christ is given by them and by other people, which ends with a chant like 'I know you will complete this work in me'.

It's not often that you can sit down and listen to an album and say, yeah this is album of the year material in January. I love this album and recommend it to anyone who likes heavy music or anything along the lines of Linkin' Park, Korn and Limp Bizkit, if you're a Brintney Spears or Beethoven fan you might not like this!
